chateau kinzua
With a total footprint of 750 square feet and vintage and handmade touches throughout, "the Chateau" can best be described as either a really nice camp or a snug little house. This well-appointed space offers everything you need to launch your adventures in and around the Allegheny. As close to town as it is to local trails, it's not far to go out for a bite to eat or head up to one of the many scenic outdoor spots. The house includes access to the Allegheny River, along with a path in the backyard that leads to several walking trails in the Allegheny National Forest.
bedroom
The lone bedroom in the Chaeteau is divided into two spaces. The first features a full size bed, dresser and mirror. A second connected space includes two built-in platform twin beds and a second dresser. Perfect for a couple, or a family of four that doesn't mind the shared sleeping space. (The laundry/dressing room offers privacy for getting changed.)
kitchen
Find everything you need in our open kitchen! Featuring a coffee bar with a live-edge top, the kitchen includes everything you need to make all your own meals (if you want to!) You'll find a gas range and oven, pots & pans and utensils. You even have two sets of dishware and glassware to choose from- ceramic plates and glassware as well as plastic and stainless steel options for use down at the river.
living room
The living room includes a sofa and two armchairs, a live-edge coffee table and plenty of lighting. It also includes a desk area for working- wifi coming soon- with a good selection of books, games and puzzles to keep you entertained next to the wood stove. (If you need extra armor against chills in the winter time, there's a collection of vintage wool blankets to keep you cozy.)
laundry & dressing room
The laundry and dressing room offers a full-size washer and dryer, storage with cleaning supplies and small appliances and a hall tree with hooks and hangers- perfect for damp clothes and bathing suits from the river. The dressing area also offers a comfortable, private place to get dressed if privacy is hard to come by elsewhere in the house!

fair warning…
We think it’s a splendid place, but we recognize it’s not everyone’s cup of tea! Before you book, we want to make sure that you’re ok with a few quirks:
- One bedroom, one bath, for a maximum of four people. Also worth noting, the bathroom is adjacent to the kitchen.
- The house is set back on a busy road, which you have to cross to get to the river. The path down to the river is very short but steep. (We hope to add steps in the future.)
- No wifi (yet), and no TV (ever). Read a book, play a game or work a puzzle. Or use the data plan on your phone- you’ll have a strong signal anywhere in and around the house.
- Our nearest neighbors are, well, very near. We share a driveway with one of them, and we ask that you’re respectful of noise and understanding of their goats, chickens, kids and work schedules.
- Because of the busy road and the neighbor’s pets, dogs must be leashed whenever they’re outside.
